Redbridge fought their way to the semi final of this year’s cup with a well earned victory against Chelmsford City. The game started evenly with both sets of forwards pressing for an opening and it was Chelmsford who struck first to take the lead slightly against the run of play. This fired up Redbridge who evened the score when Williams broke in from the right to strike a left foot drive past the keeper. Redbridge relaxed and played some very neat passing football and Lawrence put Redbridge a head with a well struck shot from inside the box Stevens following in made sure it crossed the line. Chelmsford fought back strongly and Redbridge managed to keep a grip on midfield by McBride. Chelmsford came close and staunch defending from Power and Leither kept Redbridge ahead. In the second half Rai lead the line and forced the ball to Williams who beat the keeper from close in. Redbridge were rampant and created several more chances but Chelmsford would not give up and form a quick break pulled a second goal back.
Charambous worked hard on the right and slipped a ball into Willams who beat the keeper from close range for her hat trick.
Littlechild almost increased the score but was unlucky as she just shaved the post after a long driving run down the left.
Rai finished off a fine performance getting Redbridge’s fifth.
